The Australian recruitment landscape is competitive, with a handful of large players and a second-tier of many more smaller players. From the perspective of an employer, however, there is little alternative but to enlist the use of an agency to secure the right candidates for the positions to be filled. This is partly due to the acquiescent attitude of most job applicants, in relying on professional recruiters to help them get a job. In Australia, the more recruitment technologies change, the more things seem to remain the same- most permanent positions or contracts are filled via an agency.
A similar situation prevails in the recruitment advertising market. News Corporation and the Fairfax group dominate the sector (respectively Career One and My Career). It is also no surprise here that most job ads are placed by recruiters- the large agencies dominate the space in order that they secure the quality candidates that they need to offer to employers. This situation is
little different with on-line players such as Seek.
Workers.com.au (henceforth "WORKERS") is a business that has been conceived to offer a real alternative* to what is on offer to employers and candidates alike. WORKERS' mission is to change the status-quo and provide the means through which employers and candidates are able to obtain optimal outcomes. Employers want an alternative to high price agencies in securing quality candidates; job-seekers want a greater range of job opportunities from more companies.
As part of our strategy to accomplish our mission, we propose to provide via this website the tools to enable a productive interaction between employers, job-seekers, other recruiters and ourselves. Employers and recruiters, once registered, are able to advertise their job-vacancies. Employers, when advertising a vacancy, may also choose to use WORKERS to do the recruitment on their behalf. (WORKERS will announce the start of this service at a future date).
We have built our job candidate profile database in such a way as to ensure a very high of privacy and confidentiality. If they choose to do so, candidates can remain virtually anonymous but contactable by our registered employers, who will be able to search our database. We encourage candidates to upload their profile; the more candidates we have the more useful this site will
become to potential employers.
In addition, WORKERS also provides an Employment Service
to assist those employers who prefer not to employ contractors directly. For recruiters, we are able to offer our super-efficient Payroll Service. Both these services- currently limited to NSW, are facilitated by our easy-to-use 2-step Link and Pay automated payroll and payment system.
