Security Statement

Your information and transactions with workers.com.au (henceforth "Workers") are secured through both password protection and the use of SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) encryption.

These two measures combine to help ensure the confidentiality, integrity and authenticity of your transactions with us. (To verify your secure session a padlock icon will appear at the bottom corner of your browser window (for Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator) and the first part of the web address (URL) in the browser address window will read "https" instead of "http").

When you register with WORKERS, you nominate a unique username and password that can later be used to log on to our secure facilities. If you are an employer, we will have provided you with a username and a password on registration.

Your contractual arrangement with us includes a responsibility to protect your password from disclosure to unauthorised individuals. Registered organisations should only allow authorised individuals, preferably only one or two, access to the username and password. If you are a multi-site organisation and more than one site wishes to access our service, it is important that separate registrations be used, as a means to ensure security. It is very important that you use a password that cannot be easily guessed and that you do not let anyone else know your password. You should also not write it down.

The following will be useful in creating a strong password which will serve to protect your transactions:

  • Don't use any part of your logon name for your password
  • Don't use any actual word or name or your date of birth
  • Don't use numbers in place of similar letters
  • Don't reuse any portion of your old password
  • Don't use consecutive letters or numbers like "abcdefg" or "234567"
  • Don't use adjacent keys on your keyboard like "qwerty"

You should also not check the "Remember my password" option if prompted by the operating system of your computer. A password that incorporates alphanumeric characters that you are able to remember will be quite robust. As an added measure, your computer should be secured by password protection when not attended by you.

Our system will also log you off when no activity has been detected for a period of time.

You should change your password at least every six months, or immediately if you think it has been compromised.

In the event that you are not able to log in via your password, you should call or e-mail us. If you are a job-seeker, we will probably ask that you re-register as a worker because it may be difficult for us to verify your bona fides. If you are an employer, we will verify your details with your company and e-mail to you your new password.
