Welcome to Workers Section

Your privacy and confidentiality have been our overriding consideration in determining how we can meet the objectives of (i) providing a 'meeting place' by which contractors can avail themselves to contracting opportunities, and (ii) providing an Employment Service which is efficient and secure that employers and contractors can use.

Registering your profile
Registration with us is at two levels. Contractors should first register their profiles by submitting their resumes to our search database which will also enable them to search for jobs advertised; they can register for our Employment Service later when an employer has agreed to use them, and has chosen to have us employ them through our system.

Contractors can also choose to register for only our Employment Service. This may be appropriate if they are already contracted to work for one of our Client companies, and the intention is simply to move the contract to our Employment Service.

Please do not send your resume by email to us at WORKERS because your communication with your potential employer is direct. In other words, we don't actually perform the recruitment. Employers find you via your submitted profiles, and you find them via advertised contract job positions on this site. Refer to our Business Model flowchart (PDF File) to see how it works. Also, we are only able to assist contractors who are resident in Australia. If you are outside Australia, you'll be wasting your time registering with us.

You are reminded here that it is your responsibility to protect the username and password you have used to register with us from disclosure to unauthorised individuals. You are also to use our Security Statement published on this site as a guide to fully secure your transactions with us.

When you submit your resume, you will see that we require you to complete only a very few mandatory fields. The only personal details required are your name and e-mail address. If you prefer to remain virtually anonymous, please feel free to use "Bloggs", or "Michael B" as your name. We also recommend that you use a separate Hotmail address if you are not comfortable with providing us with your current e-mail address.

The other mandatory fields (the suburb and state where you live, your availability, expected hourly rate, and skills summary) are not meant to be intrusive. Rather, they facilitate the efficient matching of your presence in the market place with employers who quite often have to move quickly to place a contractor. If you wish, you can provide a telephone contact number to help your prospective employer get hold of you quicker.

You should decide for yourself the level of details you wish to divulge about yourself. Employers need to grasp very quickly the skills set, as well as the employment history/experience of contractors. Including sufficient details in these 2 areas (ie. Skills Summary and Employment History) will make it easier for employers to make a choice. Please note that a search for contractors will principally be a 'keyword' search through these areas.

Please remember that you are, first and foremost, communicating with prospective and probably busy employers via the information you submit. It is better to be brief but concise in your approach. The quality of the database depends on the quality as well as the "freshness" of your submitted information. You will do everyone a favour by ensuring that your availability is correctly flagged via the drop-down list.

Our mission is to help contractors obtain the best market outcomes for themselves. You can contribute to the greater interests of all contractors by ensuring that you have provided quality information, and by updating your availability status regularly.

If and when you wish to terminate your entry in our database, send us an e-mail. We will render your resume inactive and therefore not searchable by employers.

Registering for WORKERS Employment Service
When an employer has agreed to use you, they have the option of employing you directly or through our Employment Service. If they have chosen the latter, you will have to register for the service.

Unlike your resume, the data to be submitted for our Employment Service are mostly mandatory. Your data is secure and is used by us to send tax to the ATO, remit superannuation contributions to the trustee, make payments to you, and is secure from other users.

In addition to submitting your personal payroll data, you will need to fax to us your completed Tax File Declaration. You should negotiate with the Client company directly and agree on an hourly base rate of pay, exclusive of Superannuation, before you commence any assignment. Your Tax File Declaration details need to reflect exactly what you have submitted to this site. The Declaration form can be downloaded from our Resources area. The base rate is defined as being inclusive of annual leave, sick leave and long service leave.

On starting an assignment with a Client company, you will advise the Client company your Payroll ID that will have been issued to you by our system. The Client company needs your Payroll ID to pay you via the WORKERS payment system. They will only see your name and the suburb where you live when you are "linked" to them.
